Boosting co-operation in matters of higher education and scientific research between Tunisia and Quebec

TUNI - Minister of higher education, scientific research and technology Lazhar Bououni conferred, on Wednesday in Tunis, with Mrs. Monique Gagnon-Tremblay, Minister of International Relations and Minister Responsible for the "Francophony" of Quebec.

Talks turned on the state of affairs and prospects of co-operation between Tunisia and Quebec with regard to the exchange of students, researchers and academic delegations, in addition to boosting co-operation between the Tunisian universities and their Quebecan counterparts.

The Canadian minister voiced admiration for the gains and successes achieved in Tunisia in the sectors of higher education and scientific research, thanks to the investment in human resources.

She highlighted the will to vitalise co-operation and partnership with the Tunisian universities and research centres, in order to step up academic exchanges between the two countries.

She pointed out that Quebec and Canada put their experience at the disposal of Tunisia, stressing the importance of co-operation as part of the Francophony organisation which will hold its Summit next October in Quebec.
