TUNIS - Higher education, scientific research and technology minister Lazhar Bououni received, on Tuesday in Tunis, with attendance of secretary of state in charge of scientific research and technology Ridha Ben Mosbah, a Canadian delegation led by SNC-Lavalin company chairman Roland Denom.

The talk turned on boosting co-operation relations between Tunisia and Canada in the field of scientific research, notably regarding assistance in training Tunisian skills in peaceful nuclear energy utilisation in Tunisia, especially as the country is readying itself to build a nuclear power plant by 2020.

Members of the Canadian delegation expressed their country's readiness to assist Tunisia in this field.

They also took part in the study day jointly organised, on Tuesday in Tunis, by the National Nuclear Sciences and Technologies Centre (CNSTN) stemming from the higher education, scientific research and technology ministry and the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG) on co-operation between Tunisia and Canada in the nuclear energy utilisation for peaceful purposes.

The meeting was attended by Canada's ambassador in Tunis.
