CARTHAGE - The Constitutional Democratic Rally (RCD) politburo met, on Wednesday, under the chairmanship of President Zine el Abidine Ben Ali. The Politburo reviewed the RCD's activity and furtherance of preparations ahead of "The Challenge Congress."

In this connection, the Bureau members listened to a report on the election of the Congress delegates and conditions under which those elections had taken place in all regions of the country, in an atmosphere of democracy, transparency and healthy emulation. The Politburo took note with satisfaction of the rate of women's presence among the delegates elected to the Congress, i.e. a 32-plus-percent rate.

In this same context, the Bureau discussed the Congress draft motions, elaborated by the eight national commissions to be looked at during the RCD Central Committee's meeting which the Head of State convened on July 15, 16, 17 and 18.

The President of the Republic commended the contents and recommendations of these draft motions, notably, as regards what had come out of the dialogue fora held with the Tunisian youths at home and abroad.

The Head of State reiterated his determination to promote the place of youth in public life and within the RCD, so that the Party be continuously vigorous and constantly future- oriented.

In this context, President Zine el Abidine Ben Ali decided to promote and enrich the Central Committee's structure by adding up to the national list two members, a woman and a man, aged less than thirty years, and from every co-ordination committee and the RCD structures abroad.
