Italian cultural events in Tunis

ImageTUNIS - Two Italian cultural events are due in Tunis : "Italian Cinema in Tunis,” on March 3-10, and the 4th edition of “Flavours and Knowledge of the South," on March 10-16.

These events were the focus of a meeting with the press, held on Monday in Tunis, by Mrs. Fulvia Feneziani, director of the Italian Cultural Centre, with attendance of Mrs. Ginella Vocca, chairwoman of the Medfilm Festival, and Mrs. Cristina Cassano, representative of the Luce institute.

"Italian Cinema in Tunis" is a cinematographic event organised by the cultural department of Italy's embassy, in association with Medfilm Festival, on the occasion of the year of Intercultural Dialogue.

This event is held as part of the agenda of Medfilm Festival 2008, which aims at boosting intercultural dialogue and co-operation between the Mediterranean countries, in addition to the promotion of the Italian cinema," underlined the director of the cultural centre. Thirteen recent films will be screened in Tunis.

A cycle of 6 titles from "La Meglio Gioventu" (best youth) will be organised on March 3-10 by means of 2 screenings a week, in original version, subtitled in French.

These films are "Uomo in Piu" by Paolo Sorrentino (2001), "Santa Maradona" by Marco Ponti (2001), "Tornando a Casa" by V. Marra ( 2001), "Saimir" by Franceso Munzi (2005), ''Velocita Massima'' by Daniele Vicario (2002) and ''Private'' by Saverio Costanzo (2004).

The event " Italian cinema in Tunis" will be kicked off, on Monday evening, with the film "l'Abbuffata'' (food) by Mimmo Calopresti, in Tunis, with attendance of main actors Donatella Finochiaro and Paolo Briguglia, chief guests of this session who also attended the news conference.

Besides, light was shed on the 4th edition of the event ''Flavours and Knowledge of the South" to be held on March 10-16 by Mediservices, in association with the cultural department in Italy's embassy and the region of Sicily.

A traditional songs show "Amuri Duci Amaru" of Laura De Palma will mark the opening of this event, due on March 10 in the Tunis municipal theatre.
