US company, Tessera Technologies, will build an industrial unit in Morocco that will produce 100Mn phone cameras, i.e. 10% of international market, the company CEO, Bruce Mcwilliams, revealed Saturday.
Ifrane - US company, Tessera Technologies, will build an industrial unit in Morocco that will produce 100Mn phone cameras, i.e. 10% of international market, the company CEO, Bruce Mcwilliams, revealed Saturday.
"We are working on building a new firm in Morocco, Nemotek Technology, which will be able to produce 100 million phone cameras, i.e. 10% of international demand," said Mr. Mcwilliams who was the keynote speaker the 11th Commencement of Al-Akhawayn University in Ifrane, central Morocco.
The CEO of Tessera Technologies, a leading provider of miniaturization technologies for the electronics industry, voiced optimism to see Moroccan engineers hired by the American company "prove that they are better qualified than many others we have worked with in Asia."
"Morocco is well located to quickly improve its economy," he said, stressing Moroccan strategic location with regard to Europe and North America.
Recalling Morocco's free trade agreements with several countries, he underlined the north African country's assets, in particular its competitive living cost compared to other emerging economies.
Nemotek is the world’s first licensee of both the SHELLCASE(R) and OptiML(TM) technologies from Tessera. The company provides a broad range of wafer-level packaging and consumer optics solutions. It was initiated in September 2007 as a Government initiative to position Morocco as a key player within the microelectronics industry and new sciences arena.
Nemotek is located in Rabat Technopolis Park, a hub of technology development that includes an integrated, world-class campus and R&D "Go-to-Market" centre. Being in close proximity to such institutions gives the company the opportunity to work in close and harmonious collaboration for the development of its technology and know-how.
