Oujda - King Mohammed VI launched, Friday in Oujda (540km northeast of Rabat), the works to upgrade the municipal rugby stadium, for a cost of USD 1.5Mn.

The project is meant to develop national sports and strengthen sports facilities in several cities and regions of the north African country, given that sports has become a productive sector which, through the investment it attracts, contributes to creating jobs and enhancing the country's image through the exploits of Moroccan athletes at various international events.

Built on an area of 27,000 sq.m, this stadium is part of the program to upgrade sports infrastructure in the city. This future facility will have a 2,000 seats-capacity, a rugby museum, locker rooms and other outbuildings.

The works to upgrade the municipal stadium provide for the construction of a new field, restoration of surrounding walls, the establishment of a sophisticated lighting system and the extension of the bleachers.

The future stadium will enhance this sport in Oujda, where rugby is very rooted, and provide a space for youth to hone their sporting talents.
