Martil - King Mohammed VI enquired on Wednesday about a program to upgrade the town of Martil (300km north of Rabat) for a global cost of MAD 23.242mln, over $ 3 mln.

The program aims to embellish the urbanistic landscape of the small city, take full advantage of its tourist potential, and improve the life conditions of its inhabitants.

It includes the development, as of October, of the 1.8-km long Moulay Rachid Boulevard, at the center of the city for a cost of $1.46mln, within a period of ten months.

The development of the Prince Héritier avenue is also included in the program, as well as the embellishment of the Borj Martil and the Al Masjid squares for a total cost exceeding $1.56mln.

These projects are part of a partnership convention to develop this tourist Mediterranean city inked between the Interior Ministry, the Wilaya of Tetouan and the Urban Commune of Martil.

The convention covers the period between 2008 and 2009, and will cost $11.7mln.
