Euro-Maghreb youth caravan calls for opening borders between Maghreb countries
Rabat - The first "Euro-Maghreb Caravan for friendship, co-development and unity" called, here Tuesday, for the opening of borders between the countries of the region to facilitate the movement of people.
"We urge the Maghreb States (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, and Mauritania) to overcome obstacles that impede the implementation of the Marrakech Treaty (1989)," said participants in the caravan in a press release.
They voiced support for a common currency and joint initiatives to establish economic complementarity, calling for the setting up of a council for youth movements and non-governmental Maghreb organizations.
Some twenty young people from North African and European countries take part in this caravan.
After Paris, its departure point on August 17, the Caravan went through Brussels, Strasbourg, Lyon and Barcelona before arriving in Morocco.
