Morocco reiterates support to international efforts to fight AIDS in Africa
"The personal commitment of Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Salma reflects the importance of the level of Morocco's political commitment," said Mr. Chabar. Princess Lalla Salma (spouse of Moroccan king Mohammed VI) had participated on the sidelines of the 60th session of the UN General Assembly, in the meeting of African First Ladies on the fight against AIDS.
Speaking during a high-level meeting on the fight against AIDS in Africa at the UN General Assembly, the diplomat added that this commitment "is shared by the Moroccan civil society whose efforts, backed by public authorities in the fields of awareness-raising and access to care, have greatly contributed to fight this pandemic."
He praised “the positive impact of the meeting of First Ladies, which had adopted the Program of the campaign against AIDS in Africa, for the period 2005-2006” and reiterated Morocco’s readiness to “put its experience at the service of the international community, especially African brothers,” calling for mobilizing more resources to stop this deadly pandemic which continues to wreak havoc in Africa.
