Forest fires consume 230ha in Morocco up to July
Rabat - Some 233 hectares of forests were consumed by 132 fires in Morocco up to July 21, the High Commissioner for Water, Forests and the Fight of Desertification said on Thursday.
According to a press release, forest fires have witnessed a decrease compared to pervious years, as they touched 3,250 ha in 2005, 476 ha in 2006 and 418 ha in 2007.
The main fires erupted in the northern region of Rif (destroying 81ha), followed by the eastern region (destroying 50ha) and the northeastern region (destroying 50ha).
