Forest fire consumes 230ha north
Tangier - A Fire that broke out, on Friday, in a forest near the northern town of M'diq ravaged some 230 ha, mainly oak trees.
Fire-fighters used choppers to put out the blaze whose causes are still unknown, due to the isolation of this region located in the heart of the Rif Mountain.
According to the High Commissioner for Water, Forests and the Fight of Desertification, some 242 hectares of forests were consumed by 126 fires in Morocco up to July 20.
The main fires erupted in the northern region of Rif (destroying 73ha), followed by the northwestern region (34ha).
