Curtains came down on International Cultural Festival of Asilah
The curtains came down, Saturday night, on the 30th International Cultural Festival of the seaside town of Asilah, north-west Morocco.
This cultural event (August 3-30) was an opportunity to tackle several major themes as part of the 23rd session of Moatamid Ibn Al Abbad Summer University, which was attended by hundreds of world eminent personalities.
The program of this session was organized around five symposia focusing on themes related to "The Alliance of Civilizations in the East African Ibero-Latin American space", "reform of the United Nations system and future prospects of South-South cooperation", "elite, authority and democracy in the Arab world", "media in the 21st century", and "cinema and television policies in the Arab world".
The Festival also featured various exhibitions dedicated to Mexican art as part of Mexican culture days. The city of Asilah also vibrated to the rhythms of concerts given by Mexican, Spanish, Iraqi, Jordanian, Japanese, Italian and Moroccan artists.
Three awards were granted during this event, notably "Tchicaya U Tam'si Price of African poetry" awarded to Nigerian essayist and poet Niyi Osundar, "Mohamed Zafzaf Price of Arabic novel" presented to the Moroccan writer Mubarak Rabie and " Buland Al Haïdari Price of Arabic poetry” awarded to Morocco’s Ikram Abdi and Emirati Khouloud Moualem.
