Damascus - The 20th Arab Summit kicked off Saturday in the Syrian capital with the participation of the member states of the Arab league (AL) except Lebanon, which boycotts the meeting.

Morocco is represented in the meeting by Prince Moulay Rachid - younger brother of king Mohammed VI - who is leading a delegation composed mainly of Foreign Minister, Taieb Fassi Fihri and Moroccan ambassador to Damascus, Abdelouahab Bellouki.

The two-day meeting is due to tackle several issues of common interest, including the Palestinian issue, the Arab-Israeli conflict, the situation in Iraq, Sudan and Somalia, in addition to a myriad of issues connected with joint Arab action.

The Summit was preceded by a preparatory meeting held here Friday by the Foreign Ministers to hammer out the summit's agenda, and sketch a draft declaration.
