In a press statement released on Wednesday at the conclusion of the visit made by Malawian President Bakili Muluzi to Libya, the two sides stressed backing and development of relations between the two sides and revitalizing the file of cooperation, especially in the areas of culture, the media, and tourism and the expansion of trade movement.
Viewpoints were identical between the two sides in that achieving peace in Africa is the responsibility of the people of Africa, and on this ground the two countries stressed that peacekeeping operations in Africa should be by African forces in particular.
In a pre-departure statement to reporters in the city of Benghazi, Muluzi commended the solid relations between Libya and Malawi. He added that his visit to Libya falls in the course of consultations and coordination of stances in the service of the African continent and key issues.
