Tunisian-French agreement on tourism co-operation signed

Tourism minister Khelil Lajimi paid recently, a working visit to France, where he had talks with French secretary of state in charge of trade, crafts, tourism and services Hervé Novelli.

TUNIS - Tourism minister Khelil Lajimi paid recently, a working visit to France, where he had talks with French secretary of state in charge of trade, crafts, tourism and services Hervé Novelli.

Both of them signed the 2008-2011 working programme provided for in the Tunisian-French agreement on tourism co-operation signed last April 30 in Tunis, on the sidelines of the state visit of the French president in Tunisia.

This programme pertains notably to quality plans, to the holding of expertise missions in the two countries and training sessions for trainers in several fields.

On the other hand, the tourism minister attended the National Tourism Department’s works held on June 18-19, with attendance of several ministers and senior sector officials of many countries including Morocco, Quebec, Portugal and Singapore.

At a round table meeting held on the occasion, the minister briefed participants about the new Tunisian strategy based mainly on services quality, development, diversifying products and upgrading the tourism sector.

Besides, the minister held talks with his Moroccan counterpart and senior tourism officials of Quebec, Portugal and Singapore.
