Five ambushed by gunmen in west Algeria; increased heat

Algerian press sources announced that five persons were killed and other 8 injured by gunmen in Ein al-Defli in the west of the capital Algiers.

The Algerian al-Khabar daily said that 15 gunmen killed three members of the Republican Guards and two municipal men in an ambush implanted to them as they were returning back from a fire flare fight in one of the forests.

Three persons were also killed last Wednesday in al-Bweira province and Jeijel to the east of the country.

Meantime, the wave of heat which overtakes the country ( estimated at 48 degrees centigrate) resulted in the death of nine persons in Adrar province in the Algerian desert. This was after the men had sun stroke. This wave of heat also resulted in the eruption of 28 fires in the forests of 14 estates north of the country.

Since the beginning of July, 34 persons were killed in renewed acts of violence taking place in the country since more than one decade and clamed the life 200,000 persons.
